Miltown 2-06

Meelick/Parteen 0-02

After a heavy defeat to Corofin in the opening round our Junior B side got their championship campaign back on track with victory over Meelick/Parteen in a game played in atrocious conditions in Clareabbey on Friday evening.

Heavy rain and wind meant both sides struggled to score in the first half with a Conor McKenna goal proving to be significant. As the half time whistle blew Miltown led on a scoreline of 1-02 to 0-2 with the points coming from Sean Meade & Gary Egan

Conditions improved slightly as the second half started and Miltown made to most of the elements to add on three early points from the boot of Gary Egan, the highlight being a long-range effort from near the sideline. Conor McKenna again found the net as Miltown began to put some daylight between the sides before a final point from Gary Egan. The Miltown defense and workrate was very much in evidence throughout the game and means the lads can now look forward to a vital clash with Clondegad in the next round.

On a side note, the decision to play a championship game at any level in a pitch without dugouts or any type of cover for subs or spectators is something that needs to be addressed.
