Miltown 0-8 Eire Og 1-13
Our senior side came off second best to 2022 County champions Eire Og in a game played in windy conditions in Cooraclare on Sunday. Playing into the wind Miltown opened the scoring with a Micheal Murray point. Eire Og struck back quickly and made the most of conditions to score 5 unanswered points before Cormac Murray with two scores made it 0-5 to 0-3 as Miltown battled to stay in touch. Eire Og proved dangerous in front of goals and three more points gave them a five point lead. The Miltown rearguard was finally breached as half time approached with Eire Og extending their lead to 1-8 to 0-3..
The second half saw Miltown playing with the elements but unfortunately it was Eire Og who opened the scoring with the first two points to extend their lead to 10 points. Cian Mahony from a free got the scoreboard moving for Miltown before Eire Og made the most of their possession to score three points and leave Miltown with a lot to do as the game approached the final quarter. To their credit Miltown battled hard to the end and points from Kieran Malone, Brian Curtin & Paul Frawley put a better tint on the final scoreline.
