Our Seniors continued their winning run in the Garry Cup earlier today when they hosted Wolfe Tones at Hennessy Memorial Park.
In windy conditions, Wolfe Tones started the better and entered into an early lead. Three unanswered points from Miltown from the boots of Paul Keane, Cormac Murray and Cian Mahony pushed Miltown into the lead as the half progressed. Late points from Cormac Murray and Cian Mahony ensured Miltown led at the break on a scoreline of 0-5 to 0-2.
As the second half began, Liam Hehir scored the match's first goal at the end of a well worked team move before Cormac Murray struck for Miltown's second goal when Miltown intercepted a Wolfe Tones kick out. The Shannon men reduced the deficit with a goal of their own before this was cancelled out by three points from Cian Mahony and Cormac Murray. A strong finish from Wolfe Tones where they kicked four unanswered points meant for a nervy ending however Miltown prevailed on a scoreline of 2-8 to 1-7.
