Our u14s fell to a comprehensive defeat today in their county final against Kildysart-Coolmeen.
Short county panelist Podge Devereaux with a hand injury, Miltown were further weakened two minutes in when they lost captain Paudi Killeen with a dislocated thumb. Kildysart-Coolmeen capitalized on this and struck the front early on scoreline of 3-1 to 0-1 with Miltown's point coming from Conor Neylon. Further points from Conor Neylon and Danny Keena couldn't reduced the gap and Miltown trailed at the break on a scoreline of 5-6 to 0-4 after the concession of two further goals as the half drew to a close.
Danny Keena struck for the 2nd halfs first point before the opposition struck for two soft goals to extend their lead. James Cogan struck for Miltown's first goal at the end of a powerful run to narrow the gap however this didn't last long as the physically stronger Kildysart-Coolmeen extended their lead with a number of scores of their own. Danny Keena scored Miltowns second goal with an expert finish from penalty spot before Evan O'Loughlin scored his side's 6th point. Miltown showed glimpes of their potential as the match drew to a close with James Cogan scoring his 2nd goal at the end of another strong run however it was not to be as Kildysart-Coolmeen emerged victorious on a scoreline of 9-11 to 3-6.
