Our Junior A side finished their league campaign tonight with a tight defeat at home against Michael Cusacks.

Miltown started well with an early point from Ger Malone before the visitors responded. Miltown struck the lead again when Cillian Keavey powerfully finished to the net at the end of a great team move. Michael Cusacks responded with two points of their own before another Ger Malone point kept Miltown ahead. Two late Michael Cusacks points meant the sides entered the break level on a scoreline of 1-2 to 0-5.

The visitors struck for the first point of the 2nd half before Conall Meade got Miltowns 3rd point into the stiff breeze. Cusacks scored three in a row before two Ger Malone points meant Miltown trailed by a solitary point as the match entered injury time. Unfortunately as Miltown pushed for the equalizer, the visitors scored two further points to ensure they prevailed on a scoreline of 0-11 to 1-5.

Miltown lined out as follows: Mark Cunningham; Adam Burke, Martin Rynne, Cormac Devitt; Darragh Lynch, Cormac Byrne (captain), Cillian Keavey; Sean McMahon and Gearoid Burke; Paul Keane, Ger Malone, Conall Meade; Eanna O'Connor, Darragh Flynn, Damien Devereaux. Subs: Michael Hamilton, Eamonn Devereaux, Joe Carroll.

Scorers: Ger Malone 0-4; Cillian Keavey 1-0, Conall Meade 0-1

Miltowns final position in the table will not be finalized until after the weekend but their superior scoring difference should ensure they retain their Division 4 status next year. Their focus now switches to the championship which is scheduled to start after the Senior football championship begins.
