Our seniors suffered a one point defeat away to Ennistymon on Saturday evening on a scoreline of 2-2 to 0-9.
Miltown led at half time on a scoreline of 1-2 to 0-2 after playing with the aid of a stiff breeze with Miltown's goal coming from the boot of Cormac Murray after a long pass in from Paul Frawley.
At the start of the 2nd half, Miltown were reduced to 14 when Cormac Murray received a 2nd yellow however shortly after, they had the chance to extend their lead when Oisin Looney was fouled near Ennistymon goal. Unfortunately Cian Mahony's penalty just drifted past the outside of the post and went wide.
Miltown continued to try hard and found the net for a second time when Oisin Looney goaled after good work from Gearoid Curtin and Liam Hehir.
As the game drew to a close, Ennistymon continued to narrow the deficit and they took the lead for the first time in the match with the last kick of the game to ensure they emerged victorious.
This defeat sees Miltown relegated to the Garry Cup next year while their final Cusack Cup match of the campaign will be against Doonbeg in the coming weeks.
Miltown lined out as follows: Sean O'Brien; Martin Rynne, Tayto O'Brien, Aidan McGuane; Sean Neylon, Gearoid Curtin, Jamesie O'Connor; Paul Frawley and Micheal Murray; Cian Mahony, Oisin Looney, Euan Lineen; Brian Curtin, Liam Hehir, Cormac Murray. Sub: Sean McMahon.
