Our u17s prevailed yesterday evening in the Division 2 Shield final against Clarecastle in Miltown. In a tight opening half in tough conditions, scores were at a minimum early on. Miltown scored 1-1 without reply however this was quickly followed by Clarecastle doing the same and after 15 min it was 1-1 a piece. As half time approached, Miltown tacked on 3 more points and to ensure they led at the break by 1-4 to 1-1 with the goal from Caimin Jones and points from Patrick Greene (2) Eoin Devaney (1) and Sean Hayes (1).
The second half was much more open affair. Clarecastle came out and scored 1-1 within the first 5 min to put them ahead for the first time. Miltown then proceed to hit the front, scoring 3-2 from play and another goal shortly after from a penalty. Clarecastle could only score 2 more points in the half as Miltown finished strongly adding on two more points, emerging victorious on a score line of 5-8 to 2-4.
