Miltown u13s began their championship campaign at home tonight against Kimihil/Shannon Gaels.
Playing against a strong breeze, Miltown started well in the first 15mins but were unable to turn their dominance into scores while the opposition struck for a number of quick fire goals as the half drew to a close. A solitary Josh Flynn point was all Miltown had to show for their hard work at half time as they trailed by 3-4 to 0-1 at the break with Fergal Queally impressing at midfield.
Miltown started the 2nd half well with an early point from Ronan Killeen before Kilmihil/Shannon Gaels struck for their 4th goal. A Micheal Toomey goal at the end of well worked team move followed by points from Micheal and Josh Flynn reduced the deficit however the opposition stretched their lead with two further points. Miltown continued to try hard and Josh Flynn fisted to the net before Danny Keena pointed for his side's 5th point. A looping free from Cillian Sexton nestled in the top corner however the youthful Miltown side were unable to close the gap further as Kilmihil/Shannon Gaels emerged victorious on a scoreline of 4-6 to 3-5.
