Our juniors exited the championship this evening at the quarter final stage today at the hands of KIB in Doonbeg.

Playing with the aid of a strong breeze, Miltown were unable to capitalize on the same and trailed at the break on a scoreline of 0-4 to 0-3 with the points coming from Ger Malone and Gary Egan.

Unfortunately our juniors were unable to get on top in the 2nd half with the KIB defence keeping out two goal chances from Des Molohan and David Talty while the KIB attack extended their lead with a number of points in the 3rd quarter. Points from Des Molohan and Ger Malone reduced the deficit however two late KIB goals ensured they prevailed on a scoreline of 2-11 to 0-6 and and move forward to the semi final.

Miltown lined out as follows: Mark Cunningham; Darragh Lynch, Martin Rynne, Cormac Devitt; Cillian O'Malley, Gearoid Burke (capt), Cormac Byrne; Gary Egan and Noel Casey; Colin McGuane, John Jimmy Meade, Conall Meade; Paul Keane, Ger Malone, Damien Devereaux. Subs: Donal Keane, David Talty, Des Molohan, Michael Barry, Colm Haugh.

Today's disappointing display should not detract from a generally positive year for our junior side who consolidated their Division 4 status and reached the quarter final for the first time in 13 years.

Many thanks to the players and management team of Michael Hehir, John Jimmy Meade, Kevin Burke, Pat Murray and Gerry O'Connor for all their efforts throughout 2021.
