Miltown started their delayed junior championship tonight with an impressive performance over Clooney Quin in Clareabbey which kicked off after an impeccably observed minutes silence to remember former Miltown player Peadar Lynch.

Miltown started well with early points from Sean Malone and Des Molohan. Clooney Quin fought back with two points of their own before Ger Malone slotted two well taken points. As the half drew to a close, Clooney Quin scored two further points to ensure the sides entered half time level on a scoreline of four points a piece.

The second half started well for our junior side when a well worked team move saw Paul Keane find Ger Malone who expertly struck to the corner of the net with a deft finish off his left leg. A point from Sean Malone extended the lead before Clooney Quin reduced the deficit to two. Ger Malone extended the lead to three before a Gary Egan point increased Miltown's lead to four. Clooney Quin scored a 45 to narrow the gap to three and a strong defensive display led by Martin Rynne ensured Miltown prevailed on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-7.
