The U-9 boys played their third matches of this season this Saturday and hosted two very strong St Breckan’s teams. Conditions were slippy early on in both games following a light sprinkling of rain just before the throw ins, but the weather stayed dry for the rest of the matches. In the first games, both Miltown teams gave excellent performances against two very skilful and determined Lisdoonvarna sides, with Miltown edging a win in one matched by Breckan’s in the other. The quality of scoring in both games was very high.
Following a few tactical changes for the second matches, both Miltown teams were quickly out of the blocks as the weather improved into very warm conditions. Both games were played at a very high intensity despite the high on field temperature and both teams lost players to light knocks. The St. Joseph’s boys held their nerve in both tight games taking many excellent scoring opportunities.
The effort of the U-9s, who are now training on Monday’s and Friday’s, is really starting to pay dividends as the squad has made huge strides in ball carrying passing and scoring. No doubt the boys will continue to improve their skills as they prepare to host Corofin at Pairc MacAonghusa on the 24th of July.
