Our Seniors advanced to the Clare SFC final after a four point victory over Doonbeg in Cusack Park on Saturday.

Miltown started well however were unable to breakdown the Doonbeg defence through early goal chances from Cormac Murray and Darragh McDonagh. Eoin Cleary opened Miltown’s account and was quickly followed by points from Conor Cleary and Cormac Murray. Further impressive points from Eoin Cleary, Kieran Malone and Darragh McDonagh ensured that Miltown led at the break on a score line of 0-13 to 0-5.

Doonbeg started well and scored a number of points to reduce the deficit. Points from Eoin Cleary and Cormac Murray ensured our seniors stayed in front while Michael Murray was sent off for a second yellow card as the game drew to close. A Cormac Murray goal at the end of a powerful run through the Doonbeg defence from Kieran Malone stretched Miltown’s lead to seven however an injury time goal from Doonbeg ensured Miltown prevailed on a scoreline of 1-16 to 1-12.

Miltown lined out as follows: Sean O’Brien; Tayto, Seanie Malone, Enda O’Gorman; Aidan McGuane, Gordon Kelly, Gearoid Curtin; Oisin Looney and Conor Cleary; Kieran Malone, Eoin Cleary, Micheal Murray; Cormac Murray, Darragh McDonagh, Brian Curtin. Subs: Graham Kelly, Colin Hehir, Eoin Curtin, Jamesie O’Connor, Ger Malone.

Scorers were: Cormac Murray 1-4, Eoin Cleary 0-6, Darragh McDonagh 0-3, Kieran Malone 0-2 and Conor Cleary 0-1.

Next up for our seniors is a county final appearance against neighbours KIB on Sunday 20th October.
