Our minors bowed out of the minor championship this afternoon with a defeat to Eire Og in the quarter final.
Eire Og started well with an early goal however Miltown stayed in touch and were awarded a penalty when Sean McMahon was fouled in the large rectangle at the end of Cian Mahony through ball. Cian Mahony dispatched the ball to the goalkeepers right and into the net to reduce the deficit. As the half drew to a close, Miltown remained in touch with a point from Cian Mahony however in the five minutes before half time, Eire Og scored a quick fire 2-2 ensuring they led at the break on a scoreline of 3-6 to 1-1.
Eire Og started the second half well with a number of fine points before Cian Mahony powerfully finished to the net after an impressive solo run. Eire Og scored for another two goals before Miltown struck back with points from Diarmuid O Sullivan, Cillian Keavey and Cian Mahony. The minors kept trying to the end with Cian Guerin scoring his side's third goal after the Miltown forwards dispossed the Eire Og defence on the way out. Cian Mahony completed his hat trick with another excellent finish after another strong run through the Eire og defence. Time came against Miltown and Eire Og ran out deserving winners on a scoreline of 5-14 to 4-4.

Despite their exit from championship today, the youthful Miltown side under the management team of Sean O Brien, Ger Malone and Liam O Brien will have learnt a lot from this year's minor championship while the majority of the panel will see further gametime later this year in the respective u21 and u15 campaigns.
