Our u13s advanced to the finals of the Garda tournament this afternoon after a number of impressive performances.

Miltown started by playing Doora Barefield in their first group game. Miltown started well with early points from Caimin Jones and Darragh Hogan. Caimin Jones then struck for Miltown's goal as half time drew close with Miltown entering the break leading on a scoreline of 1-3 to 0-4. Barefield started the second half well and closed the deficit to a point. Miltown rallied well with Ralph Whelehan expertly finishing to the net ensuring Miltown won on a scoreline of 2-3 to 0-4.

Their second game quickly followed against Cooraclare with Miltown starting slowly, and Cooraclare striking for two early goals. Darragh Hogan pointed twice for Miltown and Miltown trailed at the break on a scoreline of 2-3 to 0-2. The u13s showed great heart and started to close the gap with points from Darragh Hogan and Ralph Whelehan. As the game drew to a finish, Darragh Hogan struck to the top corner of the net to push Miltown into the lead by the minimum. A good defensive performance in the closing minutes meant Miltown prevailed on a scoreline of 1-7 to 2-3. This result meant Miltown emerged as their group winners and faced Lissycasey in the semi final.

The u13s faced another quick 5min turnaround before their semi final. Unfortunately the number of games in quick succession meant Miltown struggled against a strong Lissycasey side, with Darragh Hogan scoring Miltown's solitary point as Lissycasey emerged winners on a scoreline of 4-8 to 0-1.

Miltown, under the management team of Declan Keavey, Maurice Reidy, Cathal O'Loughlin and David Talty, now advance to the Division 2 final on Friday. This final against Kilrush/Killimer has been provisionally scheduled for Cusack Park at 6.30pm.

The Miltown panel was: Colin Hayes, Tony Carroll, Niall Toomey, Flynn McDowell, James Downes, Ronan Keavey, Gavin Toomey, Ralph Whelehan, Iarla Meade, Stephen Murphy, Eoin Devanney, Caimin Jones, Sean McMahon, Darragh Hogan, Kian Cunningham, Conor Neylon, Oisin McCarthy, Gearoid Keavey.

Well done to all involved and good luck in the final next week.
