Our Seniors played their final group stage match of the championship against the Naomh Eoin/O’Curry’s amalgamation last night in Coorclare.

The much changed Miltown side started well with early points from Eoin Curtin and Ger Malone, however the amalgamation replied with four unanswered points to take the lead. Kieran Malone and Ger Malone traded scores with the West Clare side and at the break, the amalgamation led on a scoreline of 0-5 to 0-4.

Our Seniors began the second half well with three unanswered points from Ger Malone and looked to be in control when the West Clare side struck for a goal to push into the lead by a point. Two further points from Ger Malone saw Miltown lead by the minimum as the game entered injury time however a pointed free for the West Clare side with the last kick of the game saw the match finish level on a scoreline of 0-9 to 1-6.

Despite the draw, Miltown advance to the knockout stages as group winners where they will face Lissycasey in the quarter final with the game provisionally fixed for Saturday 21st.

Miltown lined out as follows: Sean O’Brien; Seanie Malone, Martin Rynne, Shane Curtin; Cian Flanagan, Gearoid Curtin, Jamesie O’Connor; Conor Cleary & Micheal Murray; Enda Fox, Kieran Malone, Ger Malone; Sean Malone, Graham Kelly, Eoin Curtin. Subs: Aidan McGuane, Joe Carmody, David Talty, Euan Reidy, BOB, Michael Barry.

Scorers were: Ger Malone 0-7, Kieran Malone and Eoin Curtin 0-1 each.

Last night was also the final match for BOB before he heads off to Canada this Thursday. All associated with Miltown GAA wish Brendan and Darina the best in their Canadian adventure.
