Miltown exited the Junior A Championship today following a five point defeat to Killimer in Kilmihil.

The sides traded early points with Enda Fox and Ger Malone on the scoresheet for Miltown. Miltown struck for their first goal as Joe Curtin expertly finished to the net after good work from Tiernan O'Friel. Killimer struck back quickly with a goal of their own before Miltown scored their second goal with Gary Egan finishing to the net after a neat interception by Enda Fox. The sides entered the break with Killimer leading on a scoreline of 2-8 to 2-3.

Killimer started the second half well with an early goal a a number of well taken points. Halfway through the second half, Michael Barry fielded a high diagonal ball and struck to the net to reduce the deficit. Killimer finished strongly with a number of fine points. However Miltown continued to fight to the end and struck for their fourth goal as Diarmuid Meade intercepted the ball before passing to Michael Barry who finished to the net. Miltown pressed hard for the elusive scores however Killimer prevailed on a scoreline of 3-15 to 4-7.

Miltown miss out on the knockout stages on scoring difference by a solitary point despite their earlier victories against Cooraclare and Clooney Quin.
