Our seniors captured the Cusack Cup yesterday after a dogged display against Clondegad in Cooraclare.

In horrible conditions, it took Miltown nearly 20 mins to open their account with a Eoin Cleary point. This was quickly followed by the award of a penalty to Clondegad. Thankfully, Clondegad found Sean O'Brien in impressive form as he dived impressively to his left to save the penalty. Following this, Miltown pushed on and soon found the back of the net through Cormac Murray after good work from Gearoid Curtin. Further points from Eoin Cleary ensured Miltown entered the break leading on a scoreline of 1-3 to 0-1.

Conditions worsened as the second half began with both teams struggling to find their rhythm. Clondegad slowly began to claw their way back with a number of points from place balls. The game's pivotal moment occurred with ten minutes to go when a long range ball was deflected towards the Miltown net however Sean O'Brien displayed impressive reflexes to ensure the ball did not end up in the net. An Eoin Cleary free after Darragh McDonagh was fouled after an impressive run ensured Miltown ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-4 to 0-6.

The result saw Miltown capture their first Cusack Cup since 2010 and obtain good preparation for their championship campaign in three weeks time.

Miltown lined out as follows: Sean O Brien; Tayto, Enda O Gorman, Euan Reidy; Jamesie O'Connor, Gordon Kelly, Aidan McGuane; Conor Cleary and Oisin Looney; Gearoid Curtin, Eoin Cleary, Kieran Malone; Cormac Murray, Graham Kelly, Brian Curtin. Subs: Darragh McDonagh; Micheal Murray.

Scorers were: Eoin Cleary 0-4; Cormac Murray 1-0.

Well done to all involved; players and management.
