Our junior side got their championship campaign off to a winning start on last Friday with a four point victory over Clooney Quin in the unusual surroundings of Kilmaleys Old pitch.

Clooney started well and our lads had to withstand some early pressure but with disciplined defending and a very high work rate throughout the team we withstood the onslaught and began to create some good scoring chances of our own.

A well taken Ger Malone penalty just before 1/2 time ensured Miltown went in at the break with a four point lead. PLaying into a dazzling setting sun Miltown came under early pressure from a Clooney side determined to make up the deficit, however playing with the same determination and workrate as the first half Miltown added to their score with some fine points and despite a late rally held onto their 4 point cushion to start the championship ona very positive note.

Next up for the team is a visit to Doonbeg to take on Cooracore on Saturday week

Miltown lined out as follows.

Paul Tubridy, Gearoid Burke, Martin Rynne,Brendan O'Brien, Cormac Byrne, Joe O'Reilly, Cian Flanagan, Sean Meade, Michael Barry, Ger Malone, Tiernan O'Friel, JJ Meade, Darragh Flynn, Gary Egan, Enda Fox.

Podge Devitt for Cormac Byrne, Conor sexton for Darragh Flynn, Colm Haugh for Tiernan O'Friel and Joe Curtin for Conor Sexton , Michael Murrihy, Micheal Crehan and Ian Sexton.
