The Miltown under 14s fell to their second defeat of the championship campaign last night when they travelled to Lisdoonvarna to face a fancied St. Breckans side.

The 14s started well with two early goals expertly finished by Darragh Hogan and Finlay Robertson. Further points from Patrick Greene and Cormac O’Loughlin ensured the Miltown team stayed in touch with a further well worked goal from Patrick Greene adding to the Miltown’s side tally. Despite this impressive first half display, Miltown trailed at the break on a scoreline of 3-3 to 2-9.

Miltown lost Ralph Whelehan early in the second half, taken off as a precaution after a clash of heads. Following this break in play, St Breckans performed strongly and continued to push ahead however further goals, clinically finished by Patrick Greene and Dominic Griffin meant Miltown stayed in touch and tried hard to the end with St Breckans emerging victorious on a scoreline of 4-17 to 5-6. The youthful Miltown side performed well and with all panel members seeing game time, there are a number of positives to be taken from the testing encounter.
