Our Senior team commenced their 2019 campaign today with a match in the opening round of the O'Gorman Cup against Doonbeg in Hennessy Memorial Park.
Playing into a strong breeze in the first half, Miltown led by two at the break with points from Ger Malone, Sean Malone and Seanie Malone. An altercation just before half time saw Doonbeg reduced to 14 men with a red card for their midfielder, Colm Dillon.
Despite their numerical advantage and playing with a strong wind in the second half, Miltown failed to capitalise with only a point each from Diarmuid Meade and Sean Malone to show for their dominance. A late Doonbeg point ensured the teams finished level on a scoreline of 0-7 to 0-7.
Miltown lined out as follows: Sean O Brien; Euan Reidy, Tayto, Martin Rynne; Colin Hehir, Seanie Malone, Jamesie O'Connor; Oisin Looney & Gearoid Curtin; Aidan McGuane, Micheal Murray, Brian Curtin; Sean Malone, Ger Malone, Diarmuid Meade. Subs: Jason Griffin, Graham Kelly, Enda Fox, David Cleary, Gearoid Burke.
Scorers were: Ger Malone 0-3, Sean Malone 0-2, Seanie Malone and Diarmuid Meade with 0-1 each.
