A great day was had at the festive day of fun at Hennessy Memorial Park.
It began with an extremely large crowd taking advantage of the mild weather to partake in the Miltown Ladies 5km run/walk. Well done to all the organisers and participants.
This was followed by photo opportunities with Jack Daly and the presentation of medals to the u11 and u13 underage sides by senior players Gordon Kelly and Cormac Murray.
Shortly after, the parish league took place and saw an extremely competitive group stage which needed scoring difference to resolve who would proceed to the final. The final was a competitive tense affair with the winning team of Cormac Byrne, Brian Curtin, Mark Cunningham, Cian Flanagan, Gordon Kelly, Ger Malone, Micheal Murray and Liam O'Brien prevailing by a solitary last gasp point.
The runners up were: Micheal Hehir, Paul Keane, Graham Kelly, Sean Malone, Seanie Malone, Padraic Murray, Mikie Neylon, Brendan O'Brien, Sean O'Brien and Cillian O'Malley.
In 3rd place was: Joe Curtin, Darragh Flynn, Darragh McDonagh, Diarmuid Meade, John O'Malley, Martin Rynne, David Talty and Paul Tubridy.
In 4th place was: Gearoid Burke, Joe Carmody, Gearoid Curtin, John Hehir, Aidan McGuane, Pat Murray, Jamesie O'Connor and Brian Talty.
All games were ably officiated by referees Euan Reidy and Colin Hehir with help from score keepers Oisin Looney and Gerard Talty. After the matches, all participants were warmed up by some lovely soup provided by the Armada Hotel. Many thanks to the Burke family and Frank for the same.
Well done and thanks to all who took part in any way, be it organising, running, playing, reffing, umpiring selling the lotto, providing the food & water, supporting or any other tasks throughout the day.
Happy Christmas and here's to a prosperous 2019.
