Our minors advance to the minor B semi final following a comprehensive 5-9 to 0-8 victory over Kilmihil/Shannon Gaels in their quarter final in Doonbeg today.
Miltown started well with an early well taken goal from Jason Griffin. This was quickly followed another goal following a great run by Ronan Meade and a pass from Jason Griffin to Oisin Looney at the far post who palmed to the net. Kilmihil/Shannon Gaels came back into it and but for a point blank save from Andrew Skerritt, Miltown would have trailed at half time. Instead they led by two on a scoreline of 2-3 to 0-7.
With the aid of a strong breeze in the second half, Miltown took control with Cian Mahony expertly finishing to the net after good work from Euan Reidy and Liam Hehir. Their fourth goal came when Euan Reidy's effort was saved by the goalie and palmed into the net from Paul Keane following in on the rebound. Another well worked team move resulted in their fifth goal with Euan Reidy powerfully finishing to the net. An impressive defensive 2nd half performance from our minors limited their opposition to one second half point, with notable performances from Tadhg Flynn, Evan Crowley and Cillian O Malley among others.
