Our u14s advanced to the U14B championship final this evening with a comprehensive victory over Clooney-Quin. The match, played in Coolmeen, began with nervous play from both sides before Sean McMahon expertly finished to the net to settle Miltown’s nerves. Well-taken points in the first half from Sean McMahon, Cillian Keavey, Euan Lineen, Callum Curtin and Diarmuid O’Sullivan ensured our u14s went into the break four points ahead.

Miltown began the second half excellently with Cillian Keavey struck for a well-finished goal. The scorer of the U14’s third goal will be source of debate in the dressing room this evening as Cillian Keavey lobbed the ball in towards Clooney-Quin’s goal with debate over whether Callum Curtin touched the ball before it nestled in the net. Further points from Cillian Keavey and Sean McMahon and two late excellent goals from Sean & Callum Curtin ensured Miltown ran out comprehensive winners on a score-line of 5-10 to 0-7.

Miltown lined out with: James Anastacia; Patrick Greene, Sidney Smith, Cormac Byrne; Eamon Devereaux, Adam Burke, Tim Lenihan; Euan Lineen & Sean McMahon; Sean Hayes, Cillian Keavey, Sean Neylon; Callum Curtin, Diarmuid O’Sullivan, Paul Frawley. Subs: Ralph Whelehan, Darragh Hogan, John Maloney.

This was an impressive performance with some excellent taken points and great defensive work from both those who started and those who came on off the bench. The U14s, under the management team of Padraig Frawley, Enda O’Gorman, Cormac Murray & Declan Keavey, now advance to the championship final with fixture details to be announced in the coming days – we will keep you updated with regard to the same.

Well done to all involved tonight and best of luck in the final.
