Our U12s were victorious in their league final yesterday evening in sweltering conditions in Cusack Park. St Breckans withdrew from the competition so Miltown were paired with Parteen/Meelick as they had finished 2nd in their group.

It was a tough battle throughout with both teams giving it everything throughout the forty minutes. Parteen/Meelick started well and led by a point at the break.

Miltown started the second half impressively and took the lead after Darragh Hogan expertly finished to the net at the end of a run through the opposition defence. Parteen/Meelick struck back immediately however with a  well worked goal of their own. As the game drew to a finish, Tony Carroll found himself at the end of a lofted ball into the square and fisted to the net to put Miltown ahead by a single point. The drama wasn’t finished yet as Parteen/Meelick raced through for a one on one with Colin Hayes in the Miltown goal however Colin pulled off another impressive save to ensure Miltown emerged victorious on a scoreline of 2-3 to 2-2.

The Miltown panel last night was: Colin Hayes, Niall Twomey, Iarla Meade, Dominic Griffin, Stephen Murphy, Tony Carroll, Ronan Keavey, Ralph Whelehan (capt), James Downes, Gavin Twomey, Darragh Hogan, Caimin Jones, Cian Cunningham, Eoin Devanney, Thomas O’Halloran, Kian St. John, Sid Hawkins.

Next up for this group of players is a trip to Killarney on July 18 for a Munster blitz which will be followed later in the year by the West Clare League.

Well done to all involved, both players and management, on an all-round impressive display last night – keep up the great work.
