Contrary to the information displayed on the official Clare GAA website, all teams in the Division 4 league did not complete seven games, with Ennistymon receiving a walkover from Clooney-Quin despite a final result being displayed online. This walk-over made scoring difference redundant and ensured that Miltown’s previous survival status was now invalid. Our Juniors were then placed in a three way play off for the final relegation spot with Clooney –Quinn & Clondegad and earlier today, they faced off with Clondegad in the relegation semi-final.
Miltown began well in Kilmihil with Sean Malone striking for an early goal. Three first half points from Ger Malone and one each from Sean, Gary Egan and Micheal Murray saw Miltown exert their dominance. This dominance was interrupted by a goal against the run of play from Clondegad which saw the teams leave the field at half time level, at 1-6 apiece.
The second half saw Miltown start well again however another Clondegad goal coupled with the late dismissal of Ian Sexton ensured the Ballynacally men prevailed by four points on a score-line of 2-11 to 1-10. Next up for our Juniors is a match vs Clooney-Quin with the loser being relegated to Division 5. This match is provisionally scheduled for next weekend.
