Our Senior side qualified for the semi finals of this years championship seeing off neighbours Ennistymon after extra time in Cusack Park on Saturday evening. Early scores form Eoin Cleary and Cormac Murray got Miltown up and running before Ennistymon got back on level terms in the first quarter. A Seanie Malone penalty confidently dispatched on seventeen minutes re-established Miltown lead before Ennistymon making use of the wind at their back hit a series of two pointers to lead 1-2 to 0-8 as the game headed towards half time. Cormac Murray closed the gap with two points with Ennistymon rounding off the first half scoring to go in ahead at the break 0-9 to Miltowns 1-4
The large attendance were treated to a great display of skills and teamwork by the U10s from both parishes at half time making a memorable day for all the players and coaches.
Eoin Cleary finished well to give Miltown their second goal of the game with captain Micheal Murray knocking over a point to give Miltown a two point advantage after just four minutes.Ennistymon replied with the next three points before Eoin Cleary scored a two point free after a great run from substitute Conor Neylon. Cormac Murray made use of the breeze to score from outside the two point arc, Eoin Cleary adding a point of his own to extend the lead to four points at the halfway stage of the half.Ennistymon then hit a purple patch scoring 1-3 without reply . Substitute Euan Lineen just on the pitch reduced the deficit to two point with minutes remaining. Ennistymon struck back to lead by three before a massive two point effort from Darragh McDonagh and a free from Eoin Cleary saw the sides all square at the final whistle.
Extra time saw Paul Frawley put Miltown ahead with Darragh adding to the lead, Ennistymon replied with a point of their own before Paul Frawley ensured Miltown went in at the break two ahead with a point in injury time. Oisin Looney scored what proved to be the decisive score when he pounced on a spilt ball in the Ennistymon defence to fire to the back of the net. Cormac Murray closed out the game with a point to leave Miltown winners 3-18 to 1-20 and setup a semi final clash with Eire Og in two weeks time.
