Our Junior C side maintained their unbeaten start to their Championship campaign with a victory over hosts O'Currys in Doonaha on Saturday lunchtime. An early Declan Rynne goal gave Miltown the perfect start and points from Declan again and Kevin McMahon gave Miltown a three point lead after 10 minutes. The lively James Cogan added another point from play as Miltown put the O'Currys defence under a lot of pressure. Micheal Hehir from a free and an outstanding two point effort from Declan Rynne rounded off the first half scoring as Miltown went in at the break 1-6 to 0-2 ahead facing into the tricky breeze blowing diagonally across the pitch.
The second half saw O'Currys up their efforts to breech a resolute Miltown defence , James Cogan doubled his account with a point from play on the twelfth minute with Noel McGuane converting a close in free on sixteen minutes. The decisive score of the second half fell to Miltowns Brian Morrissey who finished smartly on the half volley after great build up play from Liam Hehir on twenty one minutes. O'Currys pressed hard to get back into the game but faced a disciplined and very hardworking Miltown midfield and defence who restricted them to five points and as referee Ian Daly sounded the final whistle Miltown ran out winners by seven points to setup a winner takes all final group game against Shannon Gaels in two week time.
