Our senior side rounded off the group stages of this years championship with defeat to Eire Og in Kilmihil on Saturday afternoon. Eire Og got off the mark early on with two points before Darragh McDonagh opened Miltowns account with a point from play. Eire Og added two more points before Darragh doubled his tally with a point from play, Eire Og leading 0-4 to 0-2 after 12 minutes. Eire Og increased their lead with three further points with Euan Lineen scoring from play on 18 minutes in reply. Eire Og had increased their lead to seven before a brace of two pointers from Ralph Whelehan and Cian Mahony cut the deficit to three as half time approached, Eire Og however tagged on two late points to lead 0-12 to 0-07 at half time.
Our U6s made their seasonal debut at half time playing two very entertaining games against their Eire Og counterparts. Well done to all the players and their mentors on a great performance.
Micheal Murray got Miltown up and running in the second half with a point from play, however Eire Og continued to hold the upper hand and added a further five points before Cian Mahony launched a trademark two point effort into the breeze to leave it Miltown 0-10 Eire Og 0-17 with 12 gone in the second half. Eire Og put the game beyond doubt with a goal and three points without reply holding a thirteen point lead with time running out. Cormac Murray struck for a point from a 45 as Miltown and a great point from a tight angle to complete Miltowns scoring , Eire Og emerging winners 1-22 to 0-12
