Our Junior B side ensured qualification for the knockout stages of this years championship with a comprehensive victory over Kilrush in Quilty on Friday evening.
Points from Eoin Devenney, Paddy Greene & Conal Meade gave Miltown the lead after the opening quarter before Kilrush opened their scoring with a goal on 17 minutes. Miltown replied quickly however when Eoin Devenney scored a fine two point free. Miltown had by now established dominance in defence and midfield and the movement of their forwards particularly the inside line was causing huge problems for the Kilrush rearguard. Further points from Eoin Devenney (2), Tim Lenihan (2), and Gearoid Burke left Miltown leading at half time by 0-1- to 1-0.
Miltown began the second half in storming fashion and had added 2-1 to their total after the opening 4 minutes, firstly a point from Oisin McCarthy and then two well taken goals from the lively Eoin Devenney. Eoin added to his tally with another point before Conal Meade struck for Miltowns third goal of the game on 13 minutes as the daylight between the sides grew significantly. Oisin McCarthy pointed from play to increase the lead and two more goals from Paddy Greene & Conal Meade made it five on the night. Miltown rounded off their scoring with points from Eoin Devenney, Oisin.McCarthy & Paddy Greene as a dominant Miltown defence restricted Kilrush to four points in total for the half.
At the final whistle Miltown emerged victorious on a score line of 5-16 to 1-4
