Our Junior B side secured a semi final place in the Division 5 league with a victory over Clooney/Quin in Hennessy Memorial park on Friday evening. Both side had periods of possession and scoring chances in the opening ten minutes but were unable to trouble convert the chances into scores. Miltown got off the mark after 15 minutes with a goal from Oisin Mccarthy followed two minutes later with a fine two point free from the boot of Paddy Greene, Damien Deveraux found the back of the net after nineteen minutes and Paddy Greene knocked over a free on twenty one minutes to leave Miltown with a healthy lead. However the visitors finished the half strongly scoring 1-2 in final six minutes to leave a goal between the sides at half time Miltown 2-03 Clooney/Quin 1-3.
Cillian Keavey got Miltown up and running in the second half with a fine point after a powerful run from centre back and then added to his total with a two point effort. Further points from Conor Neylon & Oisin McCarthy kept Miltown in control before goals from O.McCarthy & Eanna O'Connor and point from Paul Keane who was returning from a long term injury completed the Miltown scoring. A well marshalled Miltown defence restricted C/Q to a single point from play in the second half with their other four points coming from placed balls.
Miltown will now take on St.Senans Kilkee in the semi final where the winners will play Lissycasey in the league final.
