Miltown 2-16 Parteen/Meelick 4-4

Our Miltown1 Junior side got their 2024 championship campaign off to a winning start with victory over Parteen/Meelick in Ballynacally on Sunday. Miltown got off to a lightning start with a Diarmaid O'Sullivan goal in the first minute. Early points from Sean Malone, Ronan Keavey & Cillian Keavey built on the early goal before P/M got out of the blocks. Miltown added further points from Sean Malone, Cillian Keavey, Graham Kelly and a Ger Malone free however the concession of two goals meant that despite their dominance Miltown only led by two points at the break on a scoreline of 1-7 to 2-2.

The second half saw Miltown playing with the aid of a fresh breeze and continue to make good scoring chances. A goal from substitute Kevin Kyne allied to points from Cillian Keavey, Dominic Griffin (4), Sean Malone (2), Diarmaid Sullivan and a second Ger Malone free kept the scoreboard ticking long . The concession of two more goals meant that P/M stayed in touch for the majority of the half and it was only as the game drew to a close that Miltown could afford to relax in the knowledge that victory was theirs.
