Cusack Cup ½ Final
Miltown 0-5
Lissycasey 0-9
Our senior side bowed out of this year’s Cusack Cup at the ½ final stage with defeat away to Lissycasey on Friday evening. The first half was a dour affair with little to excite the fans on either side. Miltown missed a couple of early chances and had to wait until the 20th minute for their opening score a free from the boot of Cian Mahony. Lissycasey were also slow to get the scoreboard moving with only one point in the opening 20 minutes, they did however pick up the scoring rate towards the end of the half knocking over two points from play and two frees to leave the half time score Miltown 0-1 to Lissycasey 0-5.
Miltown started the second half brightly and had reduced the deficit to two points after 11 minutes with two more frees from Cian Mahony before Lissycasey opened their account for the half after 15 minutes. The sides traded scores for the final quarter with Lissycasey establishing a 5 point lead as the game headed towards full time, Cian Mahony frees keeping Miltown in touch. Euan Lineen got Milltown’s first score from play after 33 minutes with a fisted point , however as Jim Hickey blew the final whistle the home side emerged winners on a scoreline of Miltown 0-5 Lissycasey 0-9. Attention will now turn towards the Senior Championship and a first-round meeting with Cratloe.
