Miltown 1-12 Parteen/Meelick 0-4

Our Junior B side welcomed Parteen/Meelick to Hennessy Memorial park on Tuesday evening for a top of the table clash and emerged winners on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-4.
Miltown began the half well but a strong crossfield diagonal wind made scoring a difficult proposition at times. Early points from Gary Egan , Conor Mckenna , Sean Meade & Noel McGuange gave Miltown an early lead. The visitors grew into the game as time wore on but found themselves coming up against a well organized , hardworking Miltown defence ensuring scores had to be hard fought for. Two more points from the boot of Gary Egan left the 1/2 time score Miltown 0-6 Parteen/Meelick 0-3.
The visitors began the second half well , having plenty of possession but once again finding themselves unable to breech rearguard who continued to frustrate the visitors best efforts. Miltown gradually established dominance as the half wore on and began to create good scoring chances. Points from Benny O'Reilly, Gary Egan (4) and Noel McGuane and a first Miltown goal for John Forson ensured victory for the home side. Miltown will now await the winners of Eire Og &  Parteen/Meelick in the Division 7 final with promotion already assured.
