Miltown 2-13   Clondegad 1-10.

Miltown got their 2024 Cusack Cup campaign back on track with an impressive victory over Clondegad in ideal conditions in Hennessy Memorial Park on Friday evening. 

The first half saw both sides playing open attacking football which led to plenty of chances at both ends. The Miltown defence showed their scoring radar was calibrated to near perfection with seven points coming from the boots of Gordon Kelly, Cian Mahony (0-3), Seanie Malone and Enda O'Gorman and a well struck 45 from goalkeeper Mark Cunningham.  A fine Brian Curtin goal ensured the forwards got in on the scoring act as well meaning at the half time whistle the sides were locked together on a scoreline of 1-7 apiece.

The second half saw Miltown establish dominance in the possession and scoring stakes as their defence also got the upper hand on the Clondegad attack. Points form Euan Lineen (0-2) Gordon Kelly(0-1), Paul Keane (0-1), Cian Mahony & Seanie Malone(0-1) allied to a smartly taken goal from Paul Keane ensured Miltown kept the scoreboard ticking along nicely while the defence restricted the visitors to three points. The final whistle from referee Chris Maguire saw Miltown ahead on a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-10 and three league points in the bag.
