Division 7 League: Miltown 4-7 Corofin 0-6

A blistering start at a windswept Hennessy Memorial Park ensured a second win of their Division 7 league campaign for our Junior B side. Goals from Noel McGuane (2) and Eanna O’Connor allied to a Gary Egan point from play meant Miltown roared into a 10 point lead with just 10 minutes on the clock all the while playing into a strong wind. Corofin found their feet after that and the rest of the first half was a tight affair with a Noel McGuane point giving Miltown a 3-2 to 0-4 half time lead.

Playing with the aid of the elements in the second half Miltown found it hard going against the visitors who dominated possession and played well into the wind. Despite being under pressure for periods the well-disciplined Miltown defence restricted Corofin to 2 points while Ger Malone (2) & Marty Rynne points ensured Miltown kept their distance on the scoreboard. Substitute Benny O’Reilly made an impressive impact scoring 1-2 in the closing stages as Miltown ran out winners on a scoreline of Miltown 4-7 Corofin 0-6
